🌍

World wide web addresses.

An "external domain" is a domain registered with a third-party domain name registrar. Connect an external domain with an environment to have it receive traffic for that address.

About external domains

fortrabbit does not register domains. Register the domain with a domain provider, add it to an environment in the dashboard, then point its DNS records to fortrabbit. The external domain setup has the steps. Each correctly routed domain gets a free TLS certificate.

An external domain can move to another environment of the same app without DNS changes.

Wildcard domains

Wildcard domains are not supported. Contact support with the use case.

E-mail

E-mail for the domain runs through its MX records, set with the domain provider. fortrabbit does not touch them. See e-mail hosting.
